Appearance

Karina awakened in the lush forest world of Castrovel. Her body bore visible signs of having been through some punishment when still inhabited by its previous soul. It had been found by a group of Lashunta natives and brought in for repair. Kalina awoke with the repairs unfinished. With her mobility impaired, learning and knowledge acquisition were the focus of her first conscious year. In particular, she was clumsy, and the ever-changing capabilities of her body made it hard to adapt and control it. She got into a routine of practice and, once the repairs were complete, continued with it, making her rather adept at dextrous tasks.

Inspired by the Lashunta's thirst for knowledge and learning, Kari decides to continue her education and join a university. Accepted to Tafflithe University, she studies the physical sciences. To support her livelihood, Kari works in the university's inventory. After graduation, she stays on as a lab technician.

When the Drift Crash happens, she is travelling aboard a passenger transport ship on her way back to the university, supposed to bring a valuable item for research. As a consequence of the Crisis, the spaceship is stranded in the Drift for a while, taking damage. Kari manages to save the ship by preventing a core overload and then helps with the rescue of crew and passengers on board.

Since her return, she has joined the university's task force, working to understand the Drift Crisis and its consequences. When Kassiopeia, a friend from the university-contracted ship Marata, contacts her with the intention of leaving the ship, she jumps at the chance to take her place.
